Taming hard times in your way

This article describes things that you could follow during your hard times to master. Sharing this based on what I encountered and endured. This could aid someone in distress or in a similar situation.

  1. Overthinking is the root cause of all problems: When things don’t turn out the way we expect, we start to become more anxious and it throttles overthinking. The biggest problem with overthinking is, that it creates scenarios that don’t exist and kills peace of mind. We begin to overthink about the silliest of things and start to drift away from who we are original. The easiest solution to getting rid of overthinking is to concentrate on the next immediate step or next activity rather than figuring out the whole path or the project. This firmly sticks you to the present and keeps you at peace.
  2. Enjoy little things in life: Don’t always seek happiness in bigger things (Materialistic or non-materialistic), many times little things contain more joy. Help an elderly cross the road, wave at school kids on a bus, and smile at a stranger. These are small gestures but, it will definitely make their day beautiful. It helps you to be balanced and feel better.
  3. Be optimistic: No matter how bad the situation is, try to be positive. There would be times when each day feels like a year and moments feel like months. By facing these days with positive intent builds your confidence and strength. They help you get rid of the distractions, “ bad days help you to enjoy the good ones better”.
  4. Don’t mind external factors: Never worry about things that you can’t change. Be patient, wait for your turn, and take things slowly, it will give you better clarity. Rushing during such times makes us commit blunders and spend plenty of time rectifying them. It disturbs our mental balance and we tend to become victims. Always know that things happen the way they are supposed to.
  5. Nurture friendships: Talk with people around, do more than gossip, and listen to their life stories, there could be no better teacher than experiences you attain from people’s life stories. Always love people from the bottom of your heart and mean it.
  6. Opinions are just opinions: Never give too much power to anyone, and don’t feel pressured about what people would say about you. Analyze what is good for you and keep doing it, you will definitely fetch results.
  7. Doing the right thing: Never choose a shortcut because you are taking time to reach your goal, there is no elevator to success, you always need to take the staircase. “Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion”, doing the right thing even when nobody is watching is called integrity, it is the most essential ingredient for success.
  8. Music as a companion: When in a state of bother or distress, listening to music definitely helps you to relax. It calms you down and helps you stay grounded. When you want to relax completely and reach zen mode listen to “Om Mani Padme Hum” a famous Buddhist chant suggested by my best friend. It has always helped me to reach serenity, I believe it will help you too.
  9. Feeling Lonely: You might feel lonely even when surrounded by people, you will encounter sleepless nights and all these are part and parcel of adulthood. Embrace your own company, use this time to rediscover yourself, go for a walk, observe the surroundings, and remain calm, things will definitely settle. Times like these gives you the confidence and strength to maneuver the obstacles.
  10. Go to friend: Having one true friend or a person to share everything you go through is essential. This will make you feel light and having someone to support. I had my best friend, who stood with me and always made me stronger. She understood exactly what I was going through and responded accordingly. More importantly, she listened to everything I shared or vented out. This gave me confidence, she is my support system and my human diary. If you have one such person in life, cherish them always and be grateful.
  11. Update yourself: In order to survive in this world you must be highly skilled and possess knowledge about the latest methods and technologies in your respective field. Reinforce yourself, build yourself stronger, with more strengths and fewer weaknesses ( they are unavoidable).
  12. Exercise and Diet: Exercise is essential, go for a walk, hit the gym, or play a sport. Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day, it helps you to stay fit and mentally balanced. It plays a major role in removing unwanted distractions. You may tend to overeat or starve due to stress, monitoring your nutrient intake is highly important. Consume plenty of greens and eggs if necessary, and stay fit. Avoid junk food as much as possible.
  13. Power of words: I believe in the power of words, words can make you, break you or damage your soul forever. Always use positive words, no matter whether it is self-talk or talking to someone. Words are like a stone dropped into the sea, we never know how deep it goes. The words that you use becomes your actions, in turn becomes your behavior, and finally your behavior alters your destiny. So choose your words wisely.
  14. Visualize: Whatever you do, always visualize that you are going to finish great, believing is the first step to winning. Visualization brings positivity, this brings in energy and confidence to make things happen, the power of our subconscious mind.
  15. Believe in miracles: Miracles do happen when we least expect it, always believe something good is going to happen, and good thoughts become reality.

Tough times comes just to shape us better and align us towards our purpose. Don’t lose hope, keep fighting, it is not what surrounds us that matters. It is what we have inside us that matters, mostly during times like these. Believe you can, have positive thoughts, have faith in god, and always hope for the best. These times will definitely pass by, and by the time you come out of the storm, you would be a completely different person. Life is always like a sinusoidal curve, you will have ups and downs, but eventually, you will reach where you are destined to be. It is up to us to become victorious or victims.
