Every international student who comes abroad has the desire to secure his/her dream job, but with current situations prevailing, finding a job is the hardest. You need to experience plenty of embarrassment, rejections and disappointments before landing on your first job. As said by Dr.A.P. J Abdul Kalam Sir Dreams do come true if you have the courage to pursue them, but never doubt your ability during the pursuit”. The essence is you need to prepare yourself emotionally and mentally for the job hunt. Whatever you are searching for in life is on the other side of fear, so never allow doubt or fear to consume yourself at any point in life.

The dilemma which each student gets during the Job search

The job search phase is one of the hardest in your life and that too at the earlier stage of your life could be demoralizing. You always prefer to be anti-social, you prefer solitude over staying with groups and always carry a fear in the mind that they are going to judge you no matter what you do. As being the one on job hunt for a while, I came across through similar things. It is okay to develop these things, but never allow them to overrule you. “A winner is always a loser who tried one more time”, perseverance and hard work are two main tools for success and it is the same here as well.

No matter how slow you go, keep progressing

You need to equip yourself in such a manner that you look distinct from the crowd, your resume is the best example for that, because it is going to be your representative to your employer. Furnish your resume with your data in best possible way (use good templates) but do not make it too crowded, as most of the recruiters will lose interest in looking at it. Developing the correct contact (Friends, Seniors or Previous work) at the correct time can land you in the doors of interviews, but always learn to use them wisely. Social media and Job portal sites like LinkedIn will help you with this. Start applying for your desired positions in respective organizations few months before your graduation, but never limit your options, apply to as many companies as possible. As said earlier you will face plenty of rejections but each in the process will make you stronger and will fetch you with an idea to proceed to the next search in a better manner. The most important process than applying for the job is following them up after applying. Do this after a week or two after your job application. Collect the Email Id or mobile number of the respective contact in the organization and follow up regarding your job application. It is the best way to show them that you are curious for that job. Meeting the respective contact in person could also be another choice but I do not assure you that it could open opportunities for you, but it is a greater platform to introduce yourself to them. These were few of the techniques followed by me to find a job abroad. There are plenty more permutations and combinations to find new opportunities, never allow the negative critics of others to get into you no matter what the situation is.

Your hard times will introduce the world to you

Keep trying and one day, you will end up where you wanted to be. If one could withstand and succeed in this phase of life, he can survive anything in life, so “never give up”. There are two things in life that define you “Your determination when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything”. Stay strong and play hard.
